Never a number, and now a free man.

I can't remember the last time I saw him besides watching The Prisoner, so it's hard to believe the dude was 80.

His work has rendered his visage somewhat timeless, Randal. I remember watching Secret Agent and The Prisoner like it was yesterday.
Sadly, the role in his most famous creation defined him in the minds of many, to the point where the superimposition affected public perceptions of his later work.

What I admired about him, other than his superb acting, was his laconically irreverent sense of humor - lampooning his 'Number 6' character for The Simpsons, for example.
How many of today's artistes would subject their most noted role to such treatment?

We need more visionary talent like this in the world, in all disciplines...A tragedy that so many are leaving the planet now.
