You're Fried, Redux

You're Fried

I don't care what some hypothetical disenfranchised bigot -

A) ...whose self-reinforcing negative interior state permits them to entertain the notion of voting for a silver-spoon-in-the-gullet-from-birth financially under-performing 'bailout queen' blowhard who:
B) ...has and will always hold them in utter contempt,
C) ...and who just wants their grubby votes so he can turn the world -
(that is, the parts that wouldn't be carpet bombed out of existence )
...into a giant self-branded rich whites-only country club & casino that they can spend the rest of their miserable lives vicariously looking through the 3-strand barbed wire & chain link fence at,
D) ...praying that one, pleez Jebus just one of the beautiful elites white-liveried servants will throw over some table scraps for their starving brood...or perhaps even a gravy-stained power tie that they can hang themselves from an oak tree with when the truth finally sinks in,
E) ...that truth being: just because one shares a 'value' with a racist elite, (to wit: racism) that does not and never will make you one of them.

...thinks.

F*CK DONALD TRUMP.

That is all

Earth Misses You

FZ

December 21, 1940 – December 4, 1993

"My theory is that music is good, it's the only religion that delivers the goods.
And anybody who wants to hear any kind of music is entitled to hear that music because it's good for you – it makes you feel good
If you like it, go for it. Just because I don't like it doesn't mean anything – it's a matter of personal taste."

Goodnight, my friend

R.I.P., Steve Anderson, known in the blogosphere as SteveAudio

A top-flight audio professional, progressive thinker and activist, lover of music...and a friend
He and I had many exchanges over the years regarding arts, guitars and politics that certainly bettered my day.
He was also one of my earliest supporters when the blog you are now reading was started in what seems an eon ago.
Please navigate his Facebook page to keep informed of any arrangements made by friends and family at this time. Words are not enough...perhaps,in the end, all we have is music

Vaya con Dios, amigo. We'll meet again where the sun always shines.

Somewhere in the universe other than Earth, the levels of pure sardonicism have increased exponentially.

Ted Cruz Finds Political Success In Transition (wire photo)

TC_2

above: macho foreign dignitary Ted Cruz in recent news photo

below: projected appearance of  handsome Theodora Cruz, election day 2016

Ted Cruz, maverick firebrand outsider and ideological weathervane, may be working on a secret hush-hush strategy to outflank his more staid GOP opponents, and peremptorily topple the dreaded Hillary juggernautsunami expected in November of next year on his way to the White House.

Cruz, often cited as a 'overventuresome', 'strongly fixated', and 'quasi-provocative' thinker amongst the Republican intelligentsia in American politics, has been recently rumored to be in talks with leading image consultants, haute couture mavens, and top plastic surgeons in order to formulate a radical re-branding of his personal image, in a bid to secure the hearts of U.S. voters sensitive to modern issues of gender, but undecided on political role models post-Obama.
Cruz was overheard being paraphrased in saying, 'I believe that America has had enough of the front side of my life, and that it's now high time that this great nation saw the back side'.

His wife & children are having their privacy respected at this time, and could not be reached for comment.

Go To The Mirror, Boy

A Pause For Reflection

Long-time readers will note that I don't often comment on Canadian political matters.
There are myriad reasons for this - not least of which Canadian politics (federal and provincial) is somewhat 'beige' on the average, but a more important reason in my opinion is the meager protections for satire-based free speech in my country.
While in the United States the First Amendment exists to protect unpopular concepts (even the most crassly extreme), Canada has always had somewhat less stable legal ground in this regard, up to the present time.
However, as we are soon to enter an election season with a particularly authoritarian and corrupt federal government fighting to continue the process of remaking my country in its own image with the help of paid American right-wing media advisers, I may have valid and pressing reasons to refocus my energies in a more local direction. Time will tell.

Meanwhile, I find it somewhat of an affront as a resident of one particular province in the Great White North that (caution: back story links may be required for non-resident latecomers) an unelected (by his province) Premier, a banker and a front man for oil and gas interests not limited to but including the (as Charles Pierce puts it, 'continent-spanning death funnel designed to bring the world's dirtiest fossil-fuel down from the environmental hellspout of northern Alberta, through this country's most valuable farmland, and down to the refineries on the coast, and thence to the world' - your mileage may vary), who was parachuted in to replace a spectacularly failed former Premier who resigned in disgrace last year, can find the time to lecture the citizens of his province on their complicity in decades of single-party government malfeasance, and counseling them to 'tighten their belts' whilst buying a flashy collector car for his grandchild - while keeping most of the same political retinue that are at the root of the problem close to his bosom.

To be fair, how Mr. Prentice (the individual on the left in the above graf) spends his money is not my concern - g'head, buy a T-Bird for yer sprog, doesn't everybody? - but how he spends the public purse is...and as his party, who in the last two decades has shown a remarkable talent for neo-liberal spendthrift ways, obsequious support for the monied among their supporters at the expense of the have-nots, the usage of populist rabble-rousing as a stratagem for division and conquering (as represented by the individual in the right of the graf, Ralph Klein), and development of incipient police-state tactics may be facing their own electoral moment shortly, there is very little time left to waste. More to come.

He's a sensitive artist...a soothsayer...a truth sayer...and you're all just  a bunch of meanie meanertons for trying to hold him to some sort of alleged, so-called 'journalistical integrity' when he saved Christmas for you, in-between taking incoming fire in Levittown   Beverly Hills   Saks 5th Avenue ...somewhere bad where bad people do badness and yell for iced tea incestuously, er, incessantly.

Schi-ZAM!

We Hate Everything Alike

Normally, I wouldn't give anything but the back of my hand to any denizen of a propaganda network that contains more than 60% of bare-faced lies...However, I did get a mild smirk out of broadcaster Bill O'Reilly's succinct place-putting of a media creature who has shown herself patently incapable of either speaking in complete sentences, or having subjective cognitive awareness of what an ultra-buffoon she has dwindled to after the Right wing fap-fest had wiped off and moved on.

So, kudos to you, Bill-O...and no offense intended.

I Am Not Charlie

Fast Food Rushmore

None of us in North America are.

As J.J. McCullough opined in CNN:
Cartoonists in North America increasingly do not see themselves as avant-garde provocateurs for whom no subject is beyond reproach, but rather, as cautious advocates for a particular strain of progressive tolerance.
Quite right, as I have had much opportunity to notice (and regret) since well over a decade ago. There were, and are very few artists on this continent who dare to pictorially exaggerate the foibles and peccadilloes of the obnoxious and powerful, most wishing to avoid the consequences of economic or physical reprisal for their tail-twisting...myself and a few others perhaps being the tepid exceptions to the rule, in spite of enshrined legal protections for such activity.
Fear is a valuable agent against unorganized opposition for those who work in the shadows and who wish to remain there, unmolested and unseen.

Throughout my sojourn, I have never satirized or belittled the deities that one or a group might profess to believe in, for the simple belief on my part that insulting someone elses imaginary friends can often lead to unwarranted hostility among otherwise peaceable folks.

OTOH, I have no such qualms regarding individuals or institutions that profess and perform calamitous stupidities on behalf of their deities and financial backers (the two being somewhat hard to tell apart at times), wrapping themselves gaudily in a threadbare cloak of sanctimonious piffle while they break their own commandments for sport and profit.

I refuse, now and forever to offer respect to such sketchy, cultish motivations that would allow self-serving minds of that shade the opportunity to inflict themselves on others for a specious payoff in a galaxy far, far away.

Fortunately, one needn't ridicule beliefs when the actions themselves are indulgences in foolishness and mendacity.
The issue now for us, and the world is the line between the two that some have deliberately chosen to blur...or obscure completely.

A dose of realism is in order - unlike academics in far-off countries who declaim the breezy ease by which criticism of native religions in the West can be levied in North American mass media, I know good and well that such bold criticisms will often...no, always be met by vociferous, organized push-backs in some cases escalating to firearm use.

I have had occasional personal threats (implied and decidedly minor), and I have felt the invisible lash of negative public opinion at times, from 'left' and 'right' alike...although those situations were never considered by myself as a reason to stop creating, or 'go ghost'  unlike some unfortunates, as I was already as 'anonymous' as one could reasonably think one to be in a world of unseen digital footprints and obsequious surveillance...Or so I thought.

Perhaps I should rethink that quaint strategy. Perhaps.

And so here we are...the second decade in the 21st century, but soon to return to a more comforting time (for some) of darkened, medieval pleasures and the imminent return of the Leviathan.

"No arts; no letters; no society; and which is worst of all, continual fear, and danger of violent death: and the life of man, solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short."

Brothers and sisters, are you ready? Really ready?
