DB- this made me remember something from my time in the UK- 1976-1986.
And, how things have changed. Britain had and still has an "Official Secrets Act". Deal was, back then (pre- or at the dawning of the internet) that UK reporters would phone US libraries and librarians for information what was available in the US, but not in the UK, because of their OSA.
It's tough to find snark out of Canadian politics, Demeur.
Either way, 'Natural Governing Party' or native crop of Right-wing bedbugs and bumboys, it's more of the same in Canucklestan...America's largest exporter of snowbacks.

A teacher friend of mine told me that
"The Great Gatsby" was banned by the school (9th grade)
Parents complained it was on a reading list.
