Oh, you've probably heard him, Larue - He was Count Basie's drummer from 1934 to 1948. Most of the modern conceptualization of jazz drumming comes from him, filtered through many talented hands including those in the other clips.
I would say that 'Bill the drummer' has made those elbow drops his own over time, however.

I've not HEARD Papa Jo Jones, but know that show is legendary.
It just occurred to me during that clip, where Bill Kreutzman got his patented elbow thump chops!
