Those of you who were adults (or pretending to be) around 1984 might remember these fellows...So, splash on some Jovan, put on your best headband, and bang it to some Honeymoon Suite for your CanCon Friday.
That cool door that opens from the top made us sure there would be electric hoover cars by now. By gum, that was the technology of the future as featured in my elementary school text in the 70's in teh days of energy conservationist Jimmy Carter. I was not into Honeymoon Suite in 1984, but Duran Duran and Cyndi Lauper. I actually never heard of them until now, but I turned out alright, didn't I? Actually.... What a winner that guy and girl are in the video. Perhaps, had I them for role models, things would have gone differently. Sigh.
Indeed, Freida, you turned out alright - As is the case for much of the CanCon material that I feature, the market penetration is highly variable...Some have gone to the top of the U.S. charts ( a goal that many Canadian musicians have sought, even if they pretend otherwise), while others languish in regional success.
However, the models in the video could have well altered you from you to 'you who?', if only your tender mind had been carelessly exposed to their noirish allure...Fortunately, it was not to be.
