I'm sure it is challenging for many of the American fundamentalists who threw their overweeningly credulous support behind Bush as a 'man of faith' to rationalize his disavowal of belief in Biblical events as literally true, Dusty.
That said, with such expertly maintained self-deception as they practice, perhaps they can convince themselves that a wicked imp in a Halloween mask mouthed those naughty heresies.
If there is a god, why is Dubya still around? Would Jesus laugh at our misery? I didn't vote for Dubya and yet, I am punished. Does this seem very Christian?
That would be the faith-based answer, U.S. - But as I tend more to the chaos based in my belief structures, I mark him down as yet another prick in the cactus field of life...Albeit a rather obtrusive one, with a distinct lack of deeper emotions or self-awareness.
Frankly, what faith is practiced about the home and hearth to assuage doubt and allay subjective fear is better left uninflicted upon the greater public as 'policy guidance', well-meaning or no.
